The iLembe Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism held its first AGM on Thursday, November 17, 2011, nine months after it officially launched to businesses on the KZN North Coast. The first AGM marked a successful year for the Chamber as CEO Trenley Tilbrook ran members through proceedings, which included the Chairman’s Report and the nomination and election of a new executive committee for the year to come.

Members re-elected eight of the current executives for a second term while two new executives, Elliot Nkosi and Thami Kamanga, were nominated to serve on the ICCIT executive team.
In a meeting held several days after the AGM, the newly appointed executive got down to business electing the Chamber’s office bearers for the year ahead. The Chamber executive appointed Mel Clark as the new President, while Keith Palmer took up a second term as Vice President, and Louise Gibson was elected as Chamber Treasurer.
The business body’s executive committee was unanimous in their praise of outgoing president, Bongani Linda, who served the Chamber unselfishly and helped develop many of the Chamber’s strong relationships in the region.
Plans for the year ahead are drawn and the member-driven iLembe Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism is focused on continuing to build on its strong foundation developed in its first year. – Ridge Correspondent
