February 21, 2012: Well-known local interior designer Michele Throssell will be one of four prominent South African designers and interior decorators who will be partnering with Plascon to showcase their 2012 “Endless Possibility” Colour Forecast at the upcoming Decorex Durban (March 21-25).
Michele, who hails from Ballito, plus three other well-known designers, will be interpreting one of the four Plascon colour palettes from their 2012 Forecast in a concept stand at the popular décor, design and home living event. The exciting colour palettes are enticingly entitled Memory, Expression, Mystery and Origins.
Having been assigned the Memory colour palette from Plascon’s Endless Possibility forecast – which consists mostly of soft pastels inspired by the past – Michele commented: “I find it exciting that the use of colour is coming back after a long neutral phase, it shows that people are generally becoming braver to experiment and express themselves rather than sticking to old habits or following what others are doing.”
Flexibility
Speaking from the Ballito premises of her decorating company Michele Throssell Interiors, Michele said, “paint offers so much flexibility, and instant gratification, in its application. It also opens up many design and decor possibilities without major investment.”
Hinting at what her and her design team have planned for their room at the Plascon concept stand, Michele said, “We will be designing and decorating a romantic bedroom scheme, where an old French bed will be contrasted with the use of other ultra modern designer elements.”
According to Michele, who has been in the decor industry for 15 years, the creative inspiration behind the work done by her interior and design business, Michele Throssell Interiors, is “classic contemporary in nature, combining ultra modern elements with handmade pieces, and also adding a touch of glamour mixed with organic texture”. These trends will no doubt also permeate her work at the Plascon concept stand with Michele hoping that her work serves as an inspiration to others.
