Kurt Darren to rock uShaka

uShaka Marine World will welcome two home grown superstars to the Wet ‘n Wild venue on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 – Kurt Darren and Bobby van Jaarsveld.

Kurt Darren is best known for local megahits such as MeisieMeisie, LekkerLekker, Kaptein and Staan Op. He has accepted many musical awards with the latest being for the “Best SokkieDans Album” during the South African Music Awards in 2011, for the album Die BesteMedisyne.

Although best known for his Afrikaans pop sensations, Kurt Darren makes musical waves across the board; he is fluent in English and Afrikaans and writes songs in both languages. His performance at uShaka will be part of the national tour of the launch of his first “Best of” compilation, and he’ll be performing with a full band and dancers to create a rocking vibe for the public.

Joining him on this especially “lekker” evening is Bobby van Jaarsveld. For this performer, music is a family affair. Elder sister Karlien is the founder and lead singer of the group Revolusie. Bobby himself started singing at the age of 14 and released his first solo CD during his matric year. He began touring a year later, taking to the road with Dozi.

Debut album

Van Jaarsveld’s debut album, DuisendUre, reached gold status in 2008 and his new release, Net virJou, was one of the most anticipated albums of 2009 and has now reached platinum status.

If you enjoy good, local music, tasty food and want to show the crowd a few sakkie-sakkie moves, then “langarm” down to uShaka. A number of waterslides will be operational during the evening, where the more adventurous can experience the magic water wonderland of uShaka Marine World at night.

Food and beverage outlets will be open. Show starts at 6.30pm with tickets at R120 p/p purchased from Computicket.

More uShaka news

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), uShaka Marine World and Velvet Sky recently made dreams come true for dozens of disadvantaged children from The Seaside Home when they flew more than 50 Grade 7 pupils to Durban from Johannesburg for a five-day, fun-filled holiday.

Most of these children had never been away from their homes or flown or even seen an airport or the sea. The children, who saw seals and dolphins for the very first time at uShaka, were accompanied by child minders and teachers. Needless to say, all sponsors involved made some dreams come true for these grade 7s!
