Hirsch’s Ballito branch wound down 2011 with a donation of gifts – from staff and customers – to the children at Kwa Mama Care Centre at Shakashead.
Gloria Moodley (pictured here with Hirsch’s Glenda Thompson), who manages the project, said that they were delighted to receive regular support from the local community: “We cater for more than 100 children here, and never turn anyone away. We’re always grateful for any support we get, it goes a long way, and we’d like to thank Hirsch’s for their regular support with our projects.”
Kwa Mama is part of Shakashead Ministries (SHM), which also runs a feeding scheme for the elderly. Gerald Venter from SHM told us that the biggest need for the feeding scheme is a monthly supply of gas. “We are also hoping to improve the present feeding facility for the elderly,” he told us.
