A note to local schools . . . attention the Principal; Community Service Representative; Art Teachers.
The everyONE counts campaign would like to extend an invitation to you and your school to participate in the everyONEcounts campaign.
Shepherd’s Keep is a home for abandoned babies, mostly newborns who have been “discarded” down toilet pits, left alone in open fields, on dumps … and, shockingly, tied up and thrown away alive in black bags, sometimes even left along highways to be driven over by passing cars.
The project, in the form of an exhibition ONE thousand donated artworks, seeks to bring attention to the plight of abandoned babies.
Artists from around the world have pledged their support, each donating an artwork of 30cm x 30cm collaborating in ONE exhibition where each work will be sold for ONE thousand SA Rand (no more, no less – regardless of status and standing, where each and every ONE is just as valuable regardless of talent) … where everyONEcounts.
everyONEcounts has been inundated with requests from school children to participate in this initiative, hence the birth of everyONEcounts@school. Art educators and their learners can contribute to the campaign by producing artwork to raise funding for these abandoned babies and, more importantly, by creating awareness at school level.
Please log on to our website on www.everyONEcounts.co.za or click on our e1c links below which provides downloadable files: Instructions; Benefits for learners; Ideas for teaching; Lesson Plans; Community Service – suggestions
All participating schools will be linked on the website on our partners page.
Kind regards, Joan Martin, and all of the everyONEcounts team
