February 14, 2012: Starting at Camps Drift early on Thursday morning (Feb 16), the Unlimited Dusi canoe marathon will be battled out over three tough, energy sapping days before ending on the flat water at Blue Lagoon at the Umgeni River mouth on Saturday morning.

Some of the top crews include local K2 favourites Thulani (Michael) Mbanjwa and Sibonelo Zondi, previous winners (and defending champs) Andy Birkett and Jason Graham and the legendary Hank McGregor, partnered with Len Jenkins, following Ant Stott’s forced withdrawl. Jenkins, of course, won the Dusi as an under 21 paddler back in 2001.
There will surely be lots of support at riverside for the Change A Life stalwarts Mbanjwa and Zondi, while few would want to bet against Birkett and Graham. The McGregor/Jenkins team is full of power and promise (particularly when you take into account McGregor’s awesome form), but they may be affected by the relatively late change in plans after Stott’s unfortunate withdrawl. – Ridge Correspondent
The action takes place from Thursday, February 16 to Saturday, February 18.
